Core Curation
The Core Facility is tightly linked with LacCore, the National Lacustrine Core Repository, which is a curation facility for lake sediment cores from GLAD drilling and other projects. We also store many cores from dozens of projects that have been informally accessioned to the Facility. At some point in the future all "valuable" cores with sufficent field and ICD data may be wrapped into the Repository as well.
Curation is not merely storage. The Repository also maintains a database of ICD, sampling, and analytical data with the ultimate goal of developing a worldwide network of terrestrial paleorecords.
