Technician Employment at LacCore

Technicians at LacCore perform a variety of tasks to aid in the day-to-day operations of the facility. Some job openings at LacCore may be for jobs where all of these duties are performed on a routine basis, and some jobs may specialize in one area or another, with other tasks performed on a less regular basis. Some examples are:

Supervision is readily available, although the employee will work independently much of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

Coursework in Geology or a related discipline. Driver’s license is required. Demonstrated ability in written and spoken language. Ability to follow through and accomplish tasks in a timely manner. Ability to manage multiple priorities and schedules. Detail oriented. Ability to read and carry out simple written instructions. Ability to count and make simple arithmetic additions and subtractions.

Prefered Qualifications

Prior experience in a laboratory setting, including experience keeping accurate laboratory notes. Familiarity with lacustrine environments. Experience with basic database entry.

Physical Requirements

The majority of the work in this position is performed in a lab setting. Some tasks require standing at a fume hood for 8 hours a day, 2-3 times per week or sitting at a microscope for a few hours at a time. Position may require the ability to pick up, carry and/or backpack a maximum of 35 lbs alone. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping may be required. The worker will be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions, and chemical and physical hazards. Disability accomodations are available.
